1 Week Down!
In the first week I was BUSY. Every moment of each day was planned. I worked out each morning, then class from 8-12. At lunch I had something to do each day (buy books, supplies, financial aid) Then class again from 1-5. I would get home and want to be with Pink. Especially since it was here Birthday on Thursday! It was a balancing act because I was in dying need to review and study. The best part of the week is what I learned. I histology we are looking at the intricate ways cells talk and are supported. In OMM we learned how to palpate the skin, superficial fascia, and deep fascia. In biochem we learned how enzymes regulate our bodies in several different ways. At the weeks end I felt comfortable in the med school shoes.

7 days and counting
Well I have 1 week until I start school. I know it is going to be an amazing journey and I cant wait for it to start.
.
Over the last few weeks I have been thinking of what passion will I carry throughout these next 4 years? What will I accomplish outside the classroom to help my peers, the un-insured, and those in need? Then this morning after walking molly, I found Patch Adams on TV. I have read and heard about this amazing man through undergrad. Today was the first time watching the movie. It gave me the spark, the drive, and the power to be passionate.
.
Seeing his vision will help me find my own. Thanks Patch.

Padres vs. Diamondbacks
Well the last place "Bad News Bears" didn't pull it off. We lost 4-1 to the D-Backs. It was cool going back to the BOB. Last time I was there was in 2001 when the D-Backs won the world series. Tonight we got there early and ate at Coach and Willies. AMAZING food! Then we got to our seats in left field and watched a decent game. We were having the best conversations. It was a great date that ended with taking the puppy for a quick walk around the neighborhood and playing some cards before bed.
Settling In
We are back in Arizona and here until November. It hasn't quite settled in yet, but not seeing our families for 3 months might get a bit hard. Dont get me wrong though. We are so SO happy here. Our puppy loves the new pad, and we are having a lot of fun here. And we are looking for more exciting things to do together since we will soon be busy with school and full time work.

Moving Day
WOW it finally came! I am sitting in bed, up too late and so happy here in Phoenix. I think that will become a common quote over the next few months.
So as I was driving in the desert with the windows down and the HEATER on full blast (Uhaul was having minor issues over heating) I had an strong feeling of accomplishment. I am going to medical school! As the student who could not read at the average 3rd grade level and was in the "special" reading class... I am going to be a Doctor.
My body had a rush of great joy. I was listing to the ipod, looking around the sunset, and thinking... LIFE IS MOVING ON, and I am growing up!
Now as I am lying in bed... I am so glad it is with pink. We had a little bump in the road on the way over here (pun intended) but we are starting this journey together. And as we danced in the living room the first second we were alone in our new home I though to myself
there is no body else I would rather be here with. I love you pink.

A new begining
Alright is has been a while since I have been on this thing.
I decided to come back to my blog with new ambitions. I want to document my journey through medical school. I will be taking a rigorous course load, helping my classmates stand up for health care justice, train for a marathon, love my girlfriend, and have some fun!
I want to make this blog a place for friends and family to check in on how my life is going, (for the pre-med friends) how medical school is, and gain support for the charity I will be running for.
So keep an eye out for more to come!

Amazing Weekend
Well the conference came a went just like that. What a crazy week. Friday I woke up at 7:00am with 5 hours of sleep. I went to meeting services to increase the number of tables we have, I stopped by the catering place to finalize everything, Then the office to print updated grid, emergency contact, kaplan flyer, princeton flyer, and map. I sat down with Barb for a bit to talk about what else I needed.
By then is was 10:00 and I had physio lab where we learned about respiration.
After class I went back to the office to do one more flyer for health care reform lecture. Then moved over to the ENS department to pick up 3 training tables and 2 medicine balls. I met my old proffessor and head of the department to pass some paper work off then go down and get the first table. On the second trip I met three other people to carry the rest of it.
Then started setting up unloading the office and carrying it up to registration. After that i changed and prepared for the event. registration opened 20 minutes late because it took longer than expected to print the names. When we did open we all filed in and ate dinner. My roomy played background music and we all socialized. Then I opened up the conference to "everyday I am husslin" and gave an opening speech for 10 minutes where I told a story about a family going into debt because of medical bills. Then the pres. intro. the key note who was a bit dry. My adviser said " my speech was better than both keynotes" Made me feel good because I felt like it tanked.
Two hours went by and I didnt realize our speakers for the OMT mixer were not there. i called the recuriter and she put me in contact with the student fellow. We connected and it was just her not the other 3 students that were going to be there. It all worked out because she did a great job!
We closed out and went home. I met up with the DJ roomy and went downtown. Met pink and her friend who were upset. I was a taxi for 2 hours and went home a bit pissed cause i never went out.
I then planed m saturday and crashed out at 2:30. Then up at 7:29. I was suppose to be there at 6:45. Shit hit the fan and I was out the door at 7:35 in a suit. I got to campus ran around like a chicken with his head cut off and finally chilled a bit when I got my first bit to eat at 11:45.
Everything went perfect again. the worst part was that a nurse with the navy came and was a bit rude when he was not given attention by the students. whatever i let it roll off my back and went on.
We had a great turn out. the greatest feeling came upon me when i saw 200+ students walking through the school fair and another 100+ eating in the hall. I saw the whole crowd and it was big! there were so many people there!
As the afternoon came through the numbers tapered off. We closed out with our best keynote who told some craz stories.
then the council folk hungout a bit and talked. we planned to go out but most of us were to tired and drained. I crashed at 10:45.

This damn conference
So it is a week until Catch the Wave. Our first meeting was in July 2007! I had no idea it would pan out like this. I took the Financial Chair to not have to coordinate too much. The way it has panned out, I have been the main leader with the help of the VP. So the reason for the blog. I think it is pretty cool that I will bring 400-500 kids together to hear how to get where they want to go. They will pick from 28 workshops and attend 7, hear 3 keynote speakers and a music therapist that will all in some way aided them in getting into health professional school. They will also get the chance to talk to over 35 different schools to learn more about specific programs. It is also a time for them to socialize. I have worked to get the dean from UCSF, USC, UCSD, AZCOM, and St. Augustine. Not to mention the other speakers who are current professionals and students from all disciplines of medicine.
The other cool addition is that I have written a book called "How to Guide to Getting Into Medical School" which will be given out at the conference, AMSA's Medical Student Panel that I will be sitting on a week after, and to other pre health clubs at USD, South Western CC, and other members of AMSA around the nation.
My hope for the students is to learn more about applying, and gain more motivation to work hard to make their dreams come true.
This past year I have felt the need to leave a legacy behind at SDSU. It ihas been a struggle to see where my true legacy is. As I see this conference coming together. I have found it. I have been an advocate for my peers! by being the main leader of this conference I have help hundreds of students gain an edge on going to health professional school.
It was hard during times when I wanted to hangout with Ms. Pink and say "Screw that damn conference" or other things that I have sacrificed for this position. DAMN it I am proud to have done such a great job serving my peers.

Lola by the Kinks is Freakin Sweet
So I have had this song stuck in my head for the whole day! I was jamming to it over and over this morning when me and the puppy ate breakfast out on the pouch. Then jammed out while I got ready to go to lunch and a bike ride.
The day was pretty good... I need to punch up the spring break. Alcohol, Party, Surf, all need to happen more this week
Other than that this conference, How to Guide, and crap are cramming my head as I am laying down to sleep.
Good nite!

Crazy Dream
I woke up today to the craziest dream. I was half a wake and dozing in and out. I was using my toung to DIG into my tooth. My tooth was totally rotting away in front of me. As I kept digging at it I opened a huge hole into the molar and started to knaw on this portion that was sticking out. It was like a mini lolly pop, a stick with a bulde on the end. I kept digging and digging then biting and biting until it all went red. It seems I broke an artery because there was a huge rush of blood all over me. Then the last thing I saw before I woke up was blood all over my face that looked like the mob had kicked my face in. Fucking random ass dream. What does it mean?
Starting Thoughts
So I am sitting here in the College of Science Student Council meeting at SDSU. It sounds like a big deal but it is just a time to be involved with our schools government. As a graduating senior I am looking forward to moving on. I have been around the campus for 5 years and feel like the roles I play are not as important to me any more. I have dedicated my time to soo many tasks that the ones I do not have passion for do not mean as much to me.
Whatever, had to vent. I am really excited to start this blog thing. My goals are to blog about the life. From growing up with friends in college to getting into medical school, and the life when I start in the fall. This means my stories will be about drunken delights and a little bit os some cool and dorky things I will learn in school or about the other half of my life Katie (girlfriend) and Molly (Puppy Dog). I guess I could throw a few dreams in their too.
Stay tuned for some great blogging
